The F*ck-Uterus Cake

The last party I went to before Lockdown 1 was my friend’s JM’s “Fuck-Uterus Party,” held in celebration of getting their uterus removed. They requested a chocolate and raspberry cake with an angry cartoon uterus on it and the phrase “Good Riddance” written on it. Readers, it was a delight to make.

Whenever I have a commission for a coming-out cake or a cake celebrating a queer/trans personal milestone, I always ask for requests. Not just for flavors and allergies, but how the person wants to have their celebration commemorated. We all talk about and think about our bodies and identities differently: one person might want “Yeet that Teet” written on a top surgery cake, another might want “Congrats on Your Top Surgery,” and another might want just a cake with sprinkles on it. So, if you’re in the wonderful position to help a friend celebrate getting their name change approved, adopting a pet or a child, coming out, using new pronouns, or anything else they might care to celebrate, ask before decorating. :) Getting to celebrate the richness of our queer/trans experiences makes me feel connected to my community, and hopefully receiving a cake for a special life event makes the recipients feel connected, too.

I have since learned to level a cake correctly, but this ain’t it.

Congrats, again, JM!

J.M. made this angry-uterus pull-apart piñata out of crepe paper, yarn, and a whoopie cushion!
