See Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3 from January 2019
And we’re back! I finally hit the last place on our list of sites from everyone’s favorite bad movie The Room: the cafe where the “how about something like cheesecake”/“how’s your sex life” conversation takes place between Mark and Johnny.
The cafe is now Pizza Zone (or Beach Street Pizza), which sells pizza by the slice. Tommy Wiseau apparently still owns the building, which was the home of Street Fashions USA. The building still has a giant pair of jeans and an equally poster of The Room, but is now home to a gun supply store as well as this pizza place.

The pizza is, well, pizza—cheese or pepperoni by the slice. It was like 80 degrees that day, plus the seats inside were occupied (and I couldn’t get a good photo), so we opted to sit outside away from the pizza oven. Less iconic, but certainly cooler.

If you’re not into pizza, though, there’s a ice-cream sandwich place called The Baked Bear close by—so basically bait for my partner. I mean, what’s with the sprinkles? The warmed cookies? The fact there’s a bear on the sign?
Also, I’m pretty sure the bear in the logo is copying Tommy Wiseau’s classic sunglasses look:

Since this was the last stop on our The Room tour, I’ll cover our other meals and destinations in another post(s).
Bye, Denny!
With many thanks to my partner Robin and their mom for helping me get to the final location on my list; to Adam Hollett’s tour guide of The Room locations; and to my Patreon patrons. Next time I go to San Francisco, maybe I’ll try to eat my way through Vertigo or Tales of the City!
