I haven’t had a fever in so long that I’ve forgotten what it’s like to feel like my brain is leaking out of my ears. While I’m holed up on the couch with obscene amounts of tea and a Sherlock marathon, I thought you all might like to see a handful of food photos of my recent trip to Chicago.
Just a note: these photos are of some of the places we ate prior to a wedding.
Speaking of which!: this week in the US, a record number of openly LGBT candidates were elected to our national and state governments, and four states–four!–with homogamous marriage issues on the ballot came out in favor of marriage equality.
Onto the food!
I decided to try Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte for novelty’s sake. On the plus side, it’s quite smooth; on the down side, how do you even drink this? It’s so sweet!
For drinks and dinner, we went to Hop Leaf.
Next: some of the wedding party went out to Heaven on Seven for Cajun. Definitely something we can’t get in Kanazawa!
And dinner at Sable–the gastropub with the nerdiest cocktail bar ever:
We had a set course menu of small bites of this and that, such as:
The restaurant also prepared some special vegetarian versions of the meat dishes for a vegetarian member of the wedding party–veggie-burger sliders, etc. And there was plenty of good wine!
We were only in the city a couple of days, but it was a great trip. Till next time, Chicago!
*As a feminist, I’m not a huge fan of Marriage the Institution, and I acknowledge that not everyone wants to get married for a variety of reasons. However, I wholeheartedly believe that the option ought to be open to any consenting adult who wishes to pursue it, regardless of sex or gender identification.
