Update: Spiced Persimmon Cake

I finally got some decent photos of the persimmon cake, so I’ve updated the pictures on the recipe page (bonus one below).

I have a deep-seated distaste for showing off (non-food) gift hauls on social media, but I should mention that these photos are brought to you by my new Canon Kiss X5. I’m still in the process of learning how to make the photos worthy of Foodgawker (more twine?), but I’m really excited to own something that I had written off for “maybe when you pay off your student loans.”

Thank you.

I did not do a good job of icing this cake.

Incidentally, do you use tumblr? I’ve been considering starting one to share my recipes/photos, but I know that Pinterest is more for recipe sharing whereas tumblr is more for food porn. (My photos do not yet qualify as such.) Thoughts?

The cake looks delicious and I can’t wait to try it.

I am inclined to recommend pinterest but success there also depends on picture quality. You also have to post at certain times of the day if you want more traffic. I imagine you’ll have a bit of time to think while you get used to your new camera. (I’m jealous by the way).

I hope you like it! It’s one of my favorite recipes.

I’m on pinterest already (and updated this post with a link–durrr). I have my recipes on there, but like you said, it’s a crapshoot. Mainly I use it for organizing recipes from other blogs or websites that I want to try or like since the visual element of it is easier than web browser bookmarks. Definitely no rush on tumblr, though.

I’m still in shock about the camera myself. In Japan, a lot of second-hand stores have the equipment, but it’s still kinda pricey. Thanks for the comment!
