Will this product ensure my path to Valhalla?
Five food things:
New format! What I’ve been reading, eating, cooking this week.
Time for a long-overdue Kitchen Library! This is a roundup of some recipes I loved and some pictures of things I ate. (I’ve been putting articles on Twitter and Facebook lately instead of in [woefully infrequent] Kitchen Library posts.) All of them are vegetarian or vegan!
Some vegetarian recipes I made this month, and a crappy photo of Zoka Coffee‘s Winter Blend, the perfect coffee for the Hannibal season 2 premiere. The blurriness reflects, uh, Will’s [classified].
Working on a big recipe write-up of my new party trick while preparing for holiday travel and a new computer (transfer ALL the files?) has me busy, so in the meantime, here’s what I’ve been reading.
Putting the focus on links about Japanese food, I submit for your approval adorable animal doughnuts, what is and isn’t healthy about “the Japanese diet,” wagashi, and more!
In this much belated edition of Kitchen Library: “fun” with moving, I love Fremont, and retro food links.
In this Kitchen Library: cooking without recipes, the best pies in Fremont (not the worst in London), and the history of bourbon. Cooking Sans Recipes First of all, 待たせた, blackberries. I’ve been waiting.
In this Kitchen Library (Reader), articles on gendering food, fear of “fatty foods,” History of the Food World Part 1, and a cake rant. By the way, some of these have shown up on my Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr pages–follow me there for your daily dose of fandom sweets, craft beer news, and gender rants.
During my first week here, my friends took me out to some of their favorite brewpubs (and some new ones) and for once in my life, I’m grateful for the jet lag, since it’s the perfect “excuse” to drink all the coffee. Came to the right city for that! Six Arms/McMenamins I missed you, cheese!…
In this Kitchen Library: Coffee! (Non-coffee articles and recommended recipes next time!)
